Privacy Policy

Who we are

M-Power Auto Electrical (REG CK: 2016/481108/07) of 50 Koedoe Ave, Birchleigh, Kempton Park, 1619, South Africa, operates the MAE Service Report mobile application. The app is an internal business tool used by our technicians to complete on-site service reports. For anything related to this policy, contact us at admin@mpowerauto.co.za or +27 71 423 1990.

What information the app handles

When a technician completes a service report, the app records:

• Customer details — name, telephone number, email address, and any complaints or queries described to the technician;
• Machine details — make, model, serial/registration number and hour meter reading of the equipment serviced;
• Work details — a description of the work done, arrival/departure and travel times, labour hours, travel distance and toll fees;
• Signatures — the technician's and the customer's handwritten signatures, captured on screen to confirm the work.

The app does not collect location data, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or any information from the phone beyond what the technician types into the report.

Why we process this information

The information is used solely to produce the service report you would otherwise receive on paper: to document the work performed, to invoice correctly, and to keep a record of the service history of your equipment. This is processing in the ordinary course of business as contemplated by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Where the information goes

• On the technician's device — reports are stored locally so they can be completed without signal;
• By email — the completed report PDF is emailed to our office (admin@mpowerauto.co.za) and to the customer email address recorded on the report;
• Backup — report data (excluding signatures) is backed up to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), a hosting service provided by Google LLC, over encrypted connections.

We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not share it with anyone other than the customer concerned and the service providers named above.

Security

All transmission of report data — email delivery and cloud backup — takes place over encrypted (TLS) connections. Access to stored reports is limited to M-Power Auto Electrical staff who need it for their work.

Retention

Service reports form part of our business and financial records and are retained for as long as the law and good accounting practice require, after which they are deleted.

Your rights

You may ask us at any time what personal information of yours we hold, and ask us to correct or delete it (subject to records we must keep by law). Write to admin@mpowerauto.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Children

The app is a business tool for our technicians and is not directed at, or used to collect information from, children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
